He studied Art History and Aesthetics at the Philosophical Faculty of Comenius University in Bratislava. As Curator, he organised exhibitions in Prague Castle. Between 1999 and 2008, he was Secretary of the Jindřich Chalupecký Society (producing and curating the Award for young Czech artists under 35 years of age). Between 1996 and 2000, he was employed as Head of the Department of Culture of the Prague 3 - Žižkov city district, where he co-founded the modern tradition of cultural-social bacchanalia: Žižkov Shrovetide and the Vinohrady Grape Harvest. He was one of the initiators and founders of the Iniciativa Za novou Prahu (Initiative for New Prague) and Tady není developerovo (This is not developers' land) (2011). Since 2001, he has managed the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery where he defended his position in a selection procedure in 2010.

Jarmund/Vigsnæs AS Arkitekter MNAL was established in 1996 by Einar Jarmund and Håkon Vigsnæs. Alessandra Kosberg became a partner in 2004. The firm is located in Oslo, Norway, and the recent number of employees is 19. JVA works in a wide architectural range with commissions mainly in Norway, but also in other European countries. The majority of their finished works are public buildings and housing projects.

JVA are also involved in urban planning and building interiors; aiming to cover all corners of the architectural field. They focus on the independent concept for every single project, avoiding general stylistic approaches. Priority is given to early participation in creative programming and an attentive relation towards the surroundings.

lecturers: MARGRÉT HARDARDÓTTIR & STEVE CHRISTER

Studio Granda is a practice of architects based in Reykjavík, Iceland. It was founded in 1987 by wife and husband team Margrét Hardardóttir (1959, Reykjavík, Iceland) and Steve Christer. They studied at the Architectural Association in London. Studio Granda’s work is characterised by a respect for the traditional materials of Iceland - stone, sheet metal and timber - and with their sensitive awareness of local context can be linked to the Critical Regionalism school. The work might also be regarded in the light of the Nordic modernist tradition, typified by architects such as Alvar Aalto, Erik Gunnar Asplund, Sverre Fehn, and Jørn Utzon.

Radoslav Schmelzová, Mgr., studied art history and cultural heritage management at the University of Ostrava, and the theory and history of design and new media at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. She has worked as an assistant curator at the National Gallery in Prague, the National Heritage Institute, and at the Atelier Contemporary Art Journal. She is currently teaching theory of art for the DAMU program Theatre in alternative space. She is interested in the relationships between contemporary art, the landscape and cultural heritage.

Dagmar Šubrtová will introduce part of her work which is oriented towards a sculptural interpretation of the industrial landscape affected by civilisation. In addition, she will briefly present the results of the multiannual project, Frontiers of Solitude, which is focused on the acute situation of the changes in Nature and the landscape brought about by the influence of civilisation. This theme was developed in the form of artistic research of the cultural geography and ecology of regions in the northern part of Norway, selected locations in Iceland and in the Most region of northern Bohemia.

He studied the Faculty of Philosophy of Charles University in Prague (1974). He completed his degree by the thesis ‘Město jako kulturní fenomén – dějiny a současnost’ (City as a Cultural Phenomenon – history and present) in 1990. He reached his docent title in history of architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of Czech Technical University in Prague (ČVUT) in 2009. He’s got a job at the Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Sciences and at the same time he teaches the history of modern architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of the Technical University of Liberec.

His significant activities resulted in a number of published books and texts in magazines of architecture, art, and history. Among his recently issued books are: Současná česká architektura a její témata (Contemporary Czech Architecture and its themes) (Prague 2011) or Dějiny zemí koruny české – Architektura (History of the Czech Crown Lands – Architecture) editor and co-author (Prague 2008). He was a curator of several exhibitions in the Gallery of Jaroslav fragner in Prague e.g. Zelená architektura.cz (Green Architecture.cz) in 2008. He translates books about architecture. He was a member of the Academic Board of Czech Academy of Sciences (1993 – 2001) and a vice-chairman of the Academic Board (2001 – 2009). lecturer: ROMAN BRYCHTA

Leads the Studio 4 at the AAAD in Prague since autumn 2011. After his graduation with Prof. Emil Prikryl (1995) in the Academy of Arts in Prague, he worked freely.. In 1998, he founded AK architects (together with P. Joba, V. Králíček, P. Lešek). Since 2002, he has been a partner at Projektil architects (R. Brychta, A. Halíř, O. Hofmeister, P. Lešek). Projektil creates economical, helpful and fresh architecture with regards to tradition, innovative typology and sustainable development.  It integrates  conteporary art, design, architecture and the local context. It invites young and prospective authors to collaborate on their  projects.

Projektil has won many competitions and received prizes and awards for several completed buildings. Projektil participates in exhibitions, architectural conferences and lectures on the Czech and international architectural stage.
